Campaign 2008, Poll Results
A new Quinnipiac University poll of likely voters in the Minnesota Senate race has a little bit of good news for Republicans. Senator Norm Coleman has pulled out to a somewhat comfortable lead over comedian Al Franken, a darling of the DailyKos crowd.
Coleman was holding at 52% while Franken drew only 38%. This race could have been really interesting, but former governor Jesse “The Body” Ventura decided against making a comeback bid. The Independence Party is fielding former Senator Dean Barkley, who wasn’t actually included in this poll. Barkley could be a wildcard that tips the election depending on who he draws more support from.
As a first term Senator in an increasingly blue state, Coleman’s seat was considered very vulnerable to being lost to the Democrats in November. Hopefully these numbers will hold and we can take at least one GOP Senator off the endangered list.
